Alt Tags for Comics

What is an ALT tag?

Simply put, an ALT tag is a text description of an image. Adding a brief description to a comic page helps with Search Engine ranking.

Search engines cannot decipher the content of images. ALT tags create context when robots review websites. Adding a small synopsis of a page when loading a comic maximizes the SEO rating of your site.

Why can I not use Yoast SEO?

Yoast SEO is a brilliant plugin that handles the SEO of pages and blogs. It does not handle images. Which is why it’s important for webcomic creators to add descriptions to their ALT tags.

Can I add ALT tags in Media Library AFTER I post my comic?

Sadly… no. You will have to go through each comic and re-add your comic to the Featured Image section.
